Crystal Clawz was born about 18 years ago after Jennifer Ley Miller qualified as a Nail Technician. Being more than a touch arty, she went further afield for additional training in airbrush nail art at the Mark Anthony Institute in the UK.

In 2004 she started up her own training school, Crystal Clawz Nail Academy, and have seen a lot of ladies going through her doors as qualified nail technicians and nail artists

Jennifer have also completed over 50 courses, conversions and workshops, so she has a pretty good idea of the ins and outs of the industry and the products available to use.

Jennifer started to get increasingly frustrated by the lack of variety and the quality of products available to her as a practising Nail Technician and it got her thinking, which is always a good thing.

When she considered the products available in the market and how the quality varies so greatly (and price is not always the best indicator of quality), and the fact there is so little variety when there are so many easy options for creating stunning designs without needing to be an artist, she decided it was time to start sourcing products that she would have loved to have laid her own hands on for her regular clients. 

After months of testing products from different suppliers (this has been a real “kid in a candy store” experience), she is delighted to be able to offer you the best selection she have found. We now have fantastic products that perform! As new products arrive in the market, she will be adding many more products that will delight you, save you time and money and most importantly, keep your customers coming back for more.

The owner of Crystal Clawz East Rand – Karin Bouwer has been in the nail industry since 1998. Karin received her Educators diploma in 2010 and has been actively busy with training ladies and gents to become professional nail technicians and businesswomen/men.

In 2014 and 2017 Karin received 2nd places in Acryllic and Gel sculpting places in the Professional Beauty show and thereafter acted as a floor judge for them in 2019.

Karin was priviledged to have had training with David Fowler (a 9 times world champion in nail design) and Natalia Gritzenko from the Ukraine and received her IPDM1, IPDM2, Educators aswell as her Untuitive Coaching diplomas in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

Karin has done a huge variety of nail art courses and workshops and her passion lies in assisting and training all women and men to empower themselves in the nail industry aswell as establishing their own successful businesses in the nail industry.

Karin recently joined the winning team of Crystal Clawz and she is looking forward in assisting all students and clients by excellent client service aswell as assisting our students to become the best in the industry and becoming industry leaders.
